Early life of Manik Bandopadhyay
Manik Bandopadhyay was one of the few writers in Bengali fiction who started a new revolutionary trend in the world of literature at the critical moment of human values around the world after the First World War.
The main theme of his writings was the training of artificial working people, fatalism, etc., and was deeply influenced by the theory of aunt and class struggle. His writings have always reflected on a very small range of life.
He has written 42 novels and short stories. His novel Itikatha of Puppet Dance. Day and Night’s Poetry Padma Nadir Majhi is particularly noteworthy.

Manik Bandyopadhyay was born on May 19, 1907, in the city of Santal Pargana in the present state of Jharkhand. His father’s name was Adharchandra. His name was written in his birth certificate in Bikrampur, Dhaka.
Nickname Manik Among his father’s name Harihar Bandyopadhyay and mother Neela Sundari Devi Chowdhurani he was the eighth Prahar Bandyopadhyay.
Manik Bandyopadhyay spent his childhood and adolescence as a sub-registrar of the then Dhaka District Settlement Department and was transferred for his job. Manik Bandopadhyay passed the entrance examination from Medinipur district school in 1926 and passed the examination from the Bankura mission in 1921.

Manik Bandopadhyay worked for some time as the editor of Nabarun and later as the co-editor of Bangashree. In 1939, he set up a publishing house that closed down shortly after.
In 1930, Manik held the post of assistant for a few months. In 1936 he married Kamala Devi, daughter of Surendranath Chattopadhyay.
Manik Bandyopadhyay joined the Communist Party of India in 1944. The influence of communism can be seen in his writings from this time. In 1947, he was elected joint secretary of the Pragati Writers’ Association.
He took part in the anti-India movement in 1948. In 1953, he presided over the Pragati Writers and Artists Conference. Manik Bandyopadhyay has been touring different areas due to his father’s job.

Death of Manik Bandopadhyay
The author of 1935 contracted epilepsy which later turned into a critical condition and towards the end of his life he was suffering from financial difficulties. He died on 3rd December 1956 after a long illness.
